  • How do I submit my manuscript for publishing?

When our submissions window is open, contact us on info@carnelianheartpublishing.co.uk providing an overview of the work you would like to publish. We will ask you a few initial questions to establish your needs, then invite you to send us your manuscript.

The manuscript of your work will need to be accompanied by a covering letter and synopsis. Your synopsis should be no longer than one page of A4.

If you haven’t yet finished the work but would like to know if it would be something we are interested in before completing, then you are also welcome to send samples of the manuscript to us.

We only accept digital copies of your work, as one single document in Microsoft Word.

  • How do you make royalty payments to authors?

Royalty payments are made twice a year  in June and December.

The method of payment will be documented in each publishing contract, as specified by the author.

  • Where is your main office?

Our main office is in London, but members of our team work virtually from various locations.

  • What paperback sizes are there?

A variety of sizes are available for your book, and these will be discussed during the book production process.

The printing cost of your book will vary in relation to the sizes, and generally, the more pages a book has, the higher the cost. Images also increase the cost of a book.

  • Will my book be on sale in shops?

We will publish and distribute your book with a global wholesaler that independent bookshops all over the world have access to.

  • Do I receive copies of my book as part of the package?

You will receive free copies of your book as specified in the publishing agreement.

You will be able to buy more copies of your book at a discounted rate.

  • Who owns the rights to my book?

You (the author) own the copyright to your book.

You will grant us (the publisher) rights to publish and sell your work, as specified in your agreement.

  • How much will I make in royalties?

We generally rely on the Amazon royalty calculator found here: https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G201834330

An accurate figure will be provided by us when your  book is ready for publishing.

Royalties are paid on net receipts, that is after discount to seller and printing costs are deducted from the published retail price.

Carnelian Heart will deduct its commission from author royalties.

  • What is an ISBN?

An International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a numeric code used to uniquely identify a book, right down to the language, publisher, edition – and whether it is an ebook, paperback or hardcover. It makes life easier for booksellers, libraries, schools, book distributors, and anyone searching for a book to find it.

  • Who decides the price of the book?

We will recommend a retail price for your book, but the decision is entirely yours.
